I would like to know what is the best Simmons for reproducing many variations of
the classic disco BOOOOO BOOOOO sound ? I am ideally looking for just a brain
that can be triggered with a control keyboard. Also what kind of price would I
expect to pay for a good one second-hand and finally has anyone got one for
sale. Hopefully someone out there can help me. Many Thanks !!!! Burt

comment: Hi Burt,
you are definitely talking about analog Simmons sounds. Candidates are the SDSV (strongly recommended, but rare and expensive), then the SDS8 which still appears on ebay from time to time at a reasonable price. Other possibilities are the SDS9 (analog toms), SDS200/400/800.
Only for occasional use check the simmonscollection library which is a sound bank for the VST plugin LM4MkII featuring a bunch of real Simmons samples. It\'s available on this site for free. Just type \'simmonscollection\' into the quicksearch field.

Hi David,
I have good experiences of using car polish fluid. But there are differences and in order not to damage the red shells but to make them shine you should try somewhere else first.
Concerning the crack: You should take the shell off from the bassdrum pad and try to fix the crack from inside (Maybe by using the same stuff you would use to fix a rust hole in the car body). If polishing is not enough to make it shine again think about to lacquer it by a professional.
Good luck!
