Hi John,
(un-)fortunately I am located in Germany. Probably you should ask in Simmons Yahoo newsgroup http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Simmons_Drums/
Here you should get some help
Thanks

Someone once told me that the SDSV\'s with the sunsplash covers
(yellow/orange/red) were a limited run of only 50 complete sets. Do you know if
there is any truth to this. I see you have two of those pads pictured on your
(wonderful) site. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks!

comment:
Hi Dave,
I don\'t think so, because the effort to paint sunburt pads was not much higher like painting monochromatic pads. As you probably know the SDSV shells were painted from the inside. The pad shells themselves are transparent. Probaly the demand for sun- or blueburst pads was less, but I can\'t imagine that the edition was limited. Maybe a marketing strategy.
Thanks

Hi, Love your site-great resources!
Your SDS5 schematic saved my bacon with a unit I have in for repair today that
appears to have had a bath-there is actually a \'tide-mark\'and only one of the
modules makes a sound (the hihat) and it sounds like a quantised oscillator!
Think I have my work cut out for me on this one..reminds me of the ones I had to
fix working at McCormacks in Glasgow 25-odd years ago..some were really horrible
to fix! Happy days.
Your site is terrific & I will be telling my syn-drum clients to check it out.

Best Regards,

Jim

Hi, i have a black 5 piece sds9 set, in a simmons rack, sds9 module and manual
in english. Any idea on what this is worth?

comment:
Hi,
entire kits go for about 250 Euros/ 300 $ (on Ebay) depending on it\'s condition. Black is the most common colour an not really special. Pick up only is likely less than shipping worldwide. The prices are based on statistics. So you might get 500$ or 100$. My estimation is just an average value.

Hi I worked at Simmons as their materials buyer, while on a trip to Japan I
found a company that would supply Yamaha FM synth chips like on the DX-7 we made
a system using these must be one of the few backward piracy from Japan
technology rip offs. The place had a great atmosphere but was shambolic in it\'s
operations. Great while it lasted. Anybody know the where abouts of Dave Simmons
and any of the others? I myself have been a Network Manager in a large school up
here in Yorkshire for the past 10 years. Get in contact anyone please would be
glad to here from you

Does anyone remember the name of the drummer who did the demo\'s for Simmons?
When I was 18 I worked for Simmons in St.albans in the "manufacturing dept" this
consisted of evo stick and a bunch of juvenile/on parole people. We had so much
fun, the dept was mad. Allot of the guys we\'re walking out with sds9\'s in
there bags and selling them. I nearly quit, but asked Dave if I could demo/test
the kits. He gave me the job of playing a kit all day to see how long it took
to break. I went on from there to play drums with Bad manners for years and now
live in Kansas. I have great memories of sticking the rubber pads to hardboard,
and getting high. I now play a custom DW, you can check it out at
myspace/cockneycowboy
Getting older now and the guy who used to do the demo\'s was very nice as I was
young and annoying and he gave me some ood advice. I think his first name was
Barry?? Thanks anyone out there. Steve

comment:
Hi Steve,
his name is Barry "Baz" Watts. He recently left a message in the Yahoo newsgroup http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Simmons_Drums/
There you will likely get the contact if you browse the last couple of messages.

Great site! There is a world of information here to absorb. I notice you do not
have the manual for the SDS-EPB. I can send a copy if you don\'t have one
already and are interested. Thanks. -Tom

comment:
Hi Tom,
thanks for your kind offer. I would like to keep my philosophy only to provide and publish manuals I actually own physically. The EPB manual can be downloaded at www.simmons.synth.net
Anyway: Thanks for your offer!
