First of all, this is an example for all websites!!
Keep up the good work!
I have a question for you! Do you know the song "Going back to China" from the
Dutch band "DIESEL"
They use I think a simmons drumkit, but my question is wich one??
Kind regards,
marcel v.d Berg

Hi Marcel,
thanks!
I don\'t know this song, but I found out that it had been released in June of 1979, 2 years before the first hex shaped drumkit, the SDS5, came out. Therefor I would say they have probably used an SDS3 or even no Simmons kit at all?

Yes, I was also wondering that no SDX part has been offered on Ebay for 2-3 years now. That\'s the sad truth about a unit only built 250 times and no more spare parts available...
But good news for you: Next time they appear on Ebay, I won\'t bid as I am already generously equipped ;-)

I\'ve bought today a SDS400 with the for pads in a second-hand shop. I\'m more a
keyboard-player, but I was absolutely fascinated by the incredible sounds made
by this strange little box. It was really helpful to find the manual on this
very well-documented site. Thanks.

I have the Phil Collins / Chester Thopmson SDS7 unit. I played for about 7 years
in the 80\'s and 90\'s. No you can\'t have it.

comment: Hi Steve,
didn\'t they have enough money to buy one for each of them?
By the way: Phil Collins drum tech recently asked to buy one of my SDSV for the upcoming Genesis world tour, and "No you can\'t have it" was exactly the same formulation that I used, but at least I offered him to loan one

Hi,there! Will You remember me? I wrote last 2006-04-21!!!
Well,I would ask a question for me very important!I\'ve finally bought a
SDS-1000 pads drumkit,but without the brain. However,is it possible use a SDS-8
brain instead of theoriginal 1000, so to play my SDS-1000 pads and get drum
sounds the same and have fun??!
Many thanks for all Your help You could offer me!SIMMONS FOREVER!!!PEACE!
Bye!

comment:
Hi Romano,
absolutely no problem. Both pad generations use the same transducers, so you can use the 1000 pads with the SDS8 brain.
Have fun!

I\'m situated in Germany and have an SDS2000R, rack and 5 pads for sale. Snare
and tom pad surfaces from softer SDX material, standard bass drum surface.
Complete with all cables. Also have Paiste 302 cymbals, stands and other
hardware to go. In short, a complete kit! Offers?

What a wonderful website. Finally someone who\'s passionate about Simmons and
likes to share it. I\'m impressed with your collection. Mine only consists of
an SDS7 brain and just a bassdrum pad. In 1986 I bought the SDS800. Another
guy in the area had an SDS400 with only two pads, for some reason. The SDS800
had 3 pads and a bass pad. He rang me up to ask me if I would lend him two of
my pads for a studio session to compliment his SDS400 set. I agreed, but
regretted it when he didn\'t return the pads for quite some time. I couldn\'t
get hold of him, as I needed the pads myself for a gig. I had no other choice
then to just bring the one pad I had and play acoustically. Anyway...the great
thing about the SDS800 was, that it had a sort of a Run Down generator, with
which you could play a drum fill over one pad and it would change the pitch,
giving you the impression that you were playing a fill across several pads. I
still have the recording where you can here this long fill
