Hi Wolfgang,
Great resource and hopefully a few answers for exsasparated parents of twins as
well!
My boys (age 10) have shown interest in drums and I acquired pads from an SDS 8.
If I procured an SDS 9 module and cables, would the set-up function correctly?
Many thanks for any advice you could offer.
Tom Richardson

Hi Tom,
first of all: yes, it will definetly work if the gear components do as well. Simple mono guitar cables to connect the pads will work. Let me know if you could warm your twins towards Simmons drums ;-)
Mine (girl and boy) just celebrated their first birthday. I just started with a shaker, bongos, tambourine and cabasas. These "toys" where pretty much accepted so I am confident.
Bye
Wolfgang

Hi there, great site!. If you want Simmons stuff or need spare parts or repair
something, visit my site http://es.geocities.com/moogchild
I bought all the remaining machines and parts from the former Simmons dealer in
Madrid.
Regards.

HI there
I have an SDS9 and an SDS7 brain that need repairing. Do you know anyone who
repaires these kits.

comment:
Hi,
check the Yahoo Simmons newsgroup and make a posting there (better you write where you are located...). You have good chances to find somebody not too far away.
Bye

Wonderful site you have.My question to you is around what time did Neal Peart
started using Simmons drums?.And what type of Simmons did he use during the
1980\'s?

comment:
Hi Roger,
I am really not quite sure. When I remember right, I read that he used an SDSV and later an SDS7. What I just read is that later he only used Simmons pads to trigger an AKAI sampler through a Yamaha Converter. Probably you can check this link: http://www.rusharchives.com/rush-gear/rush-gear-gizmos-neil-peart/

Allo Great site ive been searching for one of these. Im glad to no there are
other simmons nerd out thier! I have some sds 9 pads and i need to no what
polish i should use for the shells and the how to get rid of the stick marks.
Thank you for the help

o and are you thinking of putting any sds 7 sounds up?

comment:
Hi Angus,
thanks for your posting! I use liquid plastic cleaner from my local filling station. The secret is that it is slightly aggressive and therefor it resolves a thin outer layer of the rubber surface. But these plastic cleaners differ! Try it out somewhere else first before you spill it on your pad. Use car cotton wool to disperse it. Probably it\'s about time to publish a cleaning workshop as this question is asked very often?
Concerning the SDS7 sounds: Yes, this is planned. When I had it set up the last time it unfortunately lost its memory before I could record anything

Hi! I just bought a red SDS-V kit (kick+5 pads). It sounds great! The Serial No
is 0042. Does that mean it\'s the 42nd ever made?

comment:
Hi Viktor,
well, I would say so. seems that 42 is your lucky number ;-)

nice site
just bought my first pads, now i\'m looking for good old analog sds

comment:
Hi,
If you are looking for analog devices: The SDS8 brain which is a kind of SDS5 "light" regularly appears on Ebay at reasonable prices (all other\'s are rare and therefor much more expensive although the sound is not that different). Sounds pretty cool and offers all typical filters which made the Simmons sound becoming the Simmons sound.

Hi Dirk,
unfortunately not. All I can offer is listet in the manuals area. The trixer manual is listet behind the following link but I don\'t know any details about how to get it:
http://www.markglinsky.com/ManualManor.html
Probably you might also find somebody in the Simmons Yahoo newsgroup who would make a copy for you?
