modules.

great site! i\'ve got a few questions: i have just got a sds7, and the memory
seems to dissapear when it is switched off for a period of over a few minutes.
the sounds i program all go back to a kind of default sound which just contains
noise. is there an internal battery that might need repacing? also, i have an
sdx with 10 pads. the brain is not working [power supply has blown], but can i
use the pads with my sds5, sds7, sds1000? many thanks for any information. [

comment: Hi Ben,
Thanks! Like most synthies with sound/parameter memory, the SDS7 has an internal battery of 3.6V as far as I know. No big deal to replace it. If you are not experienced just take it to your local radio tech. He can replace it. But the SDS7 are known for their forgetful memory. It\'s even better to write the parameter settings down from time to time.
The SDX pads do NOT work with other brains without any manipulation. And these manipulations are not worth the effort for two reasons: 1. Standard pads with piezzo pickups are cheap. 2. SDX pads are rare and quite popular. If you ask me: If the problem of your SDX is just the power supply: get it replaced and keep it or sell completely to somebody who has been waiting half of his life to get one (fortunately not me ;-))

Hi there, I have a Stadium 400 power amp combo, which I am told was made to
amplifya Simmons drum kit, which I am interested in selling. Do you know
anything about these and what they may be worth? If so, can I advertise it to
Simmons players through your site or elsewhere? Thanks for any help you can give
me. I also have images I could email you. All the best,
Steve Brayne

comment:
Hi Steve,
I guess you have already advertised the amp by your posting ;-)
However, never heard about this amp, therefor I can\'t estimate its value. If you are not in such a hurry, observe Ebay offers of similar amps?

HI!
Thank you for great information source to my favourite electronic drum
manufacturer!
This site is beautiful and it\'s inspired me to buy MTX-9:)I live in Moscow and
already have SDS-200 and SDS-1000.. So i found it on Yahoo auctions and buy it..
Now i have a little big trouble -
it doesn\'t work! Only chaotic changes of numbers and letters on screen and
lights.. sometimes i hear tom
or conga sound with little hiss:( State of thing is not so new.. but inside
everything\'s ok..
Can this old beautiful but 110v amped baby go work?! (it\'s a Japanese
version...)
It would be great to hear your opinion!
Thanks!

Hi,
thanks! Difficult to diagnose from the distance. And I am also not such a talented tech. My first guess would be to check the voltage. The MTX9 is nothing more than a computer. +/- 15 Volts might already cause a faulty behaviour. If you are sure that everything\'s right with the power, post your problem to the yahoo newsgroup. The link is in the "about" area within this site

Hi there,
I\'m glad I found your site. I still have my Simmons Pads (x4) up in the attic,
and I\'m waiting for the right time to bring them down, dust them off and hook
them up. I used to use a Roland PM16, now I\'ll probably use the Midi Kat to
trigger my samplers (in Logic Pro). Keep up the passion, I\'ll be looking around
to add to my white pads. Would love to build the kit up to a 15-18 piece ;)
Ciao
Gio

Thanks
do you have any programs to convert bin files to wav format

comment:
Hi,
the bin files should be nothing else but raw audio data. So audio data without any header information. Some editors such as Peak or Wavelab should be able to import/export them. I could write one if I had the time?!

Hi, great site! I\'d like to know if the SDS-8 has all the sounds the SDS-5
produces? Are there less sounds and adjustments in the SDS-8? Can you help me?
Thanks!

comment: Well, the SDS8 features the same filters than the SDS5 does. But it uses different components to implement these filters. Therefore there is a difference in the sound. Personally I prefer the SDS5 but this is a rather subjective view. Another point is that the SDS5 has 1 factory preset and 3 more presets that can be stored. The SDS8 has only one factory sound and one adjustable. So finally my favourite is the SDS5, but the SDS8 is pretty much an alternative if you are looking for the sound that made Simmons so famous during the eighties

Hi Wolfgang,

excellent site! And thank you very much for your help concerning the compability
of the pads! I now own a Yamaha DTXplorer (shame on me! ;)) which I spiced up
with some Simmons Pads, an SDS 8 and a SDS 1000 which gives me quite some
complexity of sounds while I can still use the Yamaha cymbals.

Simmons Drums came to me when I heard Spliffs "Das Blech" and I instantly wanted
to know how these incredible drum sounds were made. At that time everything
could get me excited as long as it was in a hexagonal shape.

Thank you very much for this nice website, all good luck and regards,

Martin Schnelle
