Jeff Moeller emailed me about your site. I was the CEO and founder of Simmons
Group Centre in the USA so I suppose I started it all. I do have a lot of
Simmons in my collection including an SDS5 ( the first kit I brought into the
USA and it was played by many, many of the best players of that time from Bill
Bruford, Harvey Mason, Phil Collins and onwards! I am so pleased to see your
site - keep up the good work! Sincerely,Glyn Thomas

Centre USA from 1983 to 1986 the hey days!! what a great time in my young life
back then!! So glad to see there is someone keeping a history of it all. If I
can lend any stories or info please let me know!!

Hey
ive been looking for an SDV kit for quite a while. Do you know where i can get
them from?
Thanks

comment:
Hi Zack,
unfortunately not. You need patience and money. I have noticed that the number of SDSVs (mostly on Ebay) have become very rare and prices are getting incredibly high.
However: Good luck!
Bye
Wolfgang

hi, thanks for your quick answer. yes i have the motif drum kits and my user
drum kits on my morif synth. i tried this onces with alesis drum module and it
works only on track 10 (cause this is the Gx midi drum track). i tried to use
track 1 on the motif and played my sds1000 but nothing came out... the manual
dont say anything about setting midi channels and i dont know what else to do...

hi again, i\'ve just bought my new old Sds1000m Kit. i\'ve connected it to my
yamaha motif synth, and i wonder if you know any way to make the kit send midi
data to channel 10? so i can hear my own voices from the yamaha synth?

comment:
Hi Levi,
the manual says that the default midi channel of the SDS1000 is channel 1, the midi notes sended are 60, 62, 64, 66, 68. I don\'t have the midi version but I could imagine that this channel is fixed and there might be no way to change it to channel 10 (Probably you know this better than I do). However, I would change the channel of the Yamaha device to channel 1 and see if it receives anything from the 1000.
If still nothing happens: Make sure that both devices are assigned to the same midi channel. Concerning the midi notes: Are you sure you have any sounds assigned there in your Yamaha synth?
Bye
Wolfgang

Nice Page. I was Simmons Customer Service Engineer from September 1987 until
their demise in 1989. Good to see those classic products again and good to know
Dave is still innovating. Great place to work with fine people.

HI! Been checking in on you guys from time to time... Been thinking lately and
decided I covet a SDSV in that canary yellow. Hard to find I know! Think I could
get the regular white V\'s and repaint the inside of the shells? After getting
the white (or black) off, of course. Any thoughts??

comment:
Hi Graham,
even two thoughts:
1.The white pads are as hard to find as yellow ones
2. If you repaint them, they will definetely lose most of their value
