Hello,
first , thank you for such a web site.
Planning to buy a Simmons drum for a genuine Simmons sound source for my studio
,it give me a great support.
Finally I\'ve got an SDV unit but , please , I need expert help.
Here are some questions for you :
-How can I get THAT sound whitout its original pads ?....I mean triggering it
whitout pads ?..
- do any kind of Simmons pads works fine ?
- I read on the manual that feed the trigger in ports whit a pre recorded pad
output will do the best result , are you agree ?....
-Where I can find some good samples of the SDV original pads ?...
-the last : my SDV unit has a fault pot on the snare module , the noise /tone
one.
Can you suggest me where I can found a spare for it ?

Tons of thanks for support!

Michele

HI Wolfgang,my sds9 battery leaked and it at the electronic repair store, but the
battery is in question as to what to replace it with. is it a rechargeable
lithium ion or just a normal battery?also the voltage is in question 12vdc or
16vdc,all i can find are 3vdc and they say they are non rechargeable.the battery
is apparently a Z2a-110 series?

Do you have a price guide for the SDSV kits? If not, I have one that I got from
Simmons Electronics USA in CA. the year was 84.

i vividly remember a music vid from the eighties (i thought it was spandau
ballet, but haven\'t found it yet...) with a drummer using a "custom" simmons
kit where the pads were sculpted/molded heads. am i crazy, or did this kit
exist?! hope you know what i\'m talking about.

comment:
Hi Marty,
you are likely talking about "Einstein A Gogo" by Landscape: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=295U9E5aC54
The drummer is Richard Burgess, a good fellow of Dave Simmons. This so called "Head Kit" has only been manufactured a couple of times (5?) by an artist named Colman Saunders. You will find the kit also on the backside of the SDS5 flyer. I hope your desperate search has an end.
Best regards
Wolfgang

great web sight, ihave simmons advertisments and the sds9manual in english if i
can fiqure out how to send it,my question is can i use the alesis io triger to
midi with the sds 5 hi hat pedal so i can use the roland rm8 sounds?the mtm is
to hard to find and no sells reps here for alesis seem to know if it will
work.tried e mailing alesis no answer yet.your help would be much
appreciatedTHANKS.PS the only material i can find for pad rubber are the old
front car mats, same thickness and texture, otherwise thin innertube for those
who want to know .

comment:
Hi Brian,
the SDS5 HiHat pedal will not work with the alesis IO. The pedal is based on a light barrier for open and closed HiHat and needs 15V through the XML connection cable which is normally provided by the SDSV module. This technology has exclusively been used by Simmons. I would try to get myself a Roland FD7 pedal or something similar. Pretty cheap in used condition but this would work in your environment.
Best regards

Hi Alfonso,
no problem. If you have a British 240V unit, you can run it in Spain without any modifications.

HI, THanks for a great homage page. I got a SDS 200 for $16 some years ago, but
without the pad. Would any new pad work or does it have to be the original?

comment:
Hi Svend,
any mono trigger pad like for example a Roland PD7 (pretty cheap on ebay) will work. It would even worf if you build your own ones with standard piezzo transducers.
Bye

Thanks for posting those clips Glyn. I saw Josh with NIN in December and he
still plays the same way and has the same look on his face. Hehehe. Nice vids.
