I have an SDS9 and when powered on, the brain begins playing random snare, high
tom and low tom beats. Where can I send it for repair?

Hello to all SDS7 users! I\'m selling a few SDS7 parts I don\'t need any more.
Right now there\'s a selector pad of mine at the german ebay for sale. Have a
look and grab a bargain!

I also would like to repeat my wish to meet SDS7 users to change sounds. I got
the memory cards to transfer them directly to any SDS7 brain. It\'s cool and a
great way to read out and fill in the data from and to a SDS7. My location is
Berlin, but I\'m getting around.

A nice day to everyone!

Cheers

Paul

@ Adam: I got another idea for the problem with the noise of the Simmons pads:
You should try the so called \"Silent Tips\" by Tama. These are small tips of
rubber that you can easy pull over the tip of your drumstick. In consequence you
will have \"more rubber\" in the moment of hitting the pad between the hard
surface of the Simmons pads and the drumstick. For SDS9 pads it works ok and
silences the noise especially a little more warmer and not so hard any more. It
works even better for the harder SDS7 pads and for the SDSV pads it\'s just a
great advantage. The cons: you will loose some of the good balance of your
drumstick.

Anyway worth trying it!

Cheers

comment: Hi Adam,
1. Yes, no problem. The worst Thing that might happen is that you might cause a single trigger signal when you pull/push the cable. But you won\'t damage your unit
2. Well, not really. The simmons pads and rubber pads in general ARE loud. If you you stick another layer of rubber material on top of the pad you might soften the noise but you will definetely loose dynamics and volume in your trigger signal. A common way of eleminating these noises is to built an anti shock platform: Wooden plattform "swimming" on sylomer feet (sylomer is a special anti shock material used in acustic drywall construction) or, the cheaper variant, on old bicycle tires (the outer coat). A big part of the noise that reaches your neighbour\'s ears is the propagation of the shock transmitted through your stand, then through the floor etc... It might be woth trying

Hi there, i live in south-africa... i just got an sds 1000 with =
bass,snare and 3 tom tom

it looks like one of my inputs where you plug in the medium tom is not =
working, same cable on another one works. i want to know the following =
if possible... i have no hi-hat or simbals. i would like to know if =
other digital units will work with the sds 1000 or question 2....rather =
upgrade to a newer brain unit that can use hihats etc.....i saw the =
drums and the shape got me hooked. still new at this..please let me know =
what i must do

thanks,kind regards, Volker Blok

comment: Hi Volker,
The SDS1000 is not modular. You cannot extend or upgrade it directly with any HiHat or Cymbal module. So there is no other way to get yourself a unit which provides cymbal and hihat sounds. If you prefer to upgrade your brain you can keep the Simmons pads. They work with most common drum synths (e.g. Alesis D4/DM5...). But keep in mind that the Simmons pads are over 20 years old and they do not provide the best dynamics.
Best regards
