I would like, by the means of this forum, to say a massive thank you to Michael
Buchner who helped me sort out the SDS9 problem I posted in February. He
correctly predicted that the OS needed reverting back to version 3.0 (to solve
the problem caused by ageing capacitors or somesuch), and sent me a new OS eprom
for a miniscule amount of money. If only there were more people in the world
like this...!

Hello everybody,
I own an SDS 9 and suppose I have to replace the piezos.
What type do you recommend for best sensitivity control?
Thanks

Are simmon sds v rubber glue-on heads available? What about missing knobs for
the control module?

comment: I have seen several kinds of those rubber heads. Some showed the Simmons labl and were glued directly on the original Polycarbonat head, some had been some standard 1mm rubber material self-cut but never self-adhesive. So I would advice you to get yourself some rubber material und cut it yourself. But keep in mind that this will also fade the triger pulse!
I have forgotten the name of the supplier of the knobs, but if you ask in the Yahoo Simmons newsgroup you\'ll get the answer
Best
Wolfgang

Does anyone know if the potis for pad-sensitivity on the SDS-9 brain is
available somewhere ?
(One of mine is broken. I still have the knob though)

comment: the Potis are standard components, the knobs regularly appear on Ebay

I have just dusted-off my SDS9 which I have not used for about 18 years. The
high and low tom sounds are very quiet and thin sounding. The normal snare
sound is like a hiss rather than a sample. Balance control (snare/rim) isn\'t
working, nor is the rim A-B (click/clang) selector (seems set on clang). All
three eproms are in place. Bass drum, snare rim B and medium tom sounds are
fine. Is there any hope for this machine?

I also have an old Simmons 1000 set with more Simmons pads and an old percussion
brain of Simmons with three in and outputs. The sounds are really good. I used
the set till this days but I use an other brain, it\'s the Alesis 4. I do all
the records who must be finished very fast with my old Simmons Set.

I have a sick SDS6 Sequencer. Do you know if I could get schematics for it?

Thanks

Thank you for creating this informative site. I maintain, repair and modify my
own equipment and would like to know where I can get replacement polycarbonate
for my pads. Do you have some precut black hexes to sell?
