Would the old Pearl xlr pads work with an sdsv? Or do they need to be reversed
wired? I\'d heard the xlr ground is different on Simmons connectors. Great
site.

Hi,
i have an SDS8 brain with complete pad set. But these pads are too big for me,
so i think about some compact modern pad solution. Are there any pads that works
just fine with SDS8 or any other simmons brains? Plus wanted to ask if you dont
know about some converter for using the computer sequencer. I own an
multichannel sound card, so probably its possible to plug SDS8 imputs on each
output and drive it through it, but dont know about any program able to sequence
and send each instrument through different output out.
thx very much!

comment: Hi Martin,
any transducer based rubber pad should work. For example Roland PD-8 or Dauz pads definetely will. I would not recommend Mesh head pads because their pulses are not spiky enough.
Pulse converters for your SDS8 are of course the MTM or there is a much more simple device called midi2sds (http://www.vacoloco.net/synths/midi2sds/) by Paul Maddox

comment: Hi Viktor,
this is a Selectot Pad. You can connect it to either an SDS7 brain or an MTM to change between the first 16 programs. Without one those devices it\'s completely useless. It does not trigger anything, it does not make any sound. It\'s only used for program change with a drum stick.

Hi,
You have a great collection of Simmons info! I had the very first catalog from
1978. And on the very last-back page was a picture of the setup used by The
Talking Heads featuring a Simmons set with Human Heads for pads. Do you have
that photo or know where I can find it on the web???

Thanx,
Wm.T.

comment: Hi,
the catalog you are talking about is from 1981. You can download it as a PDF from this site: http://www.simmonsmuseum.com/?area=downloads&download_id=50

Hi from Portugal. I have a broken silicon mallet. The connections on the FSR are
broken. Can you help me somehow? Where can I fix this? Who can I contact. Great
Website. Thank you.

Just want to say thanks for this site, it is an invaluable resource.

Now, I have a question - I want to convert some spare SDS7 modules (snare and
tom) to HH and cymbal. Are the eprom bin files available anywhere for this?

Cheers, vout

Hi Wolfgang,
Dave Simmons has given me permission to do this, I would not have attempted
otherwise!

Hi All! Here is a new site just launched for anybody looking for Simmons
schematics, spares, repair specialists etc.

We don\'t have everything and supplies are limited, but you never know, we may
have something you need, especially where schematics are concerned to aid any
repairs!

Best regards,

Colin

(Dont forget to join our forum!)

comment:
Hi Colin,
don\'t get me wrong, but you know that distribution of intellectual property such as schematics is illegal? The Simmons schematics are still the intellectual property of "Sound Unit"
