I have a couple of Simmons SDS9 Pads with broken plastic shells. I would like to
repair them. Can anyone tell me what specific type of plastics were used to make
the original SDS9 shells? ABS, Poly, Nylon????? Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,
Scott

Hi Wolfgang,
I recently dug out a piece of unused equipment I had in storage for years, and a
little research revealed that it\'s a custom Simmons SDSV trigger interface
built by Spaceward Studios in Cambridge for Dave Stewart. I have some photos of
it and some interesting background from Spaceward. Would you like me to e-mail
them to you directly?
Regards,
Chris Jenkins

haya wolfgang do you have the simmons sdx software (or OS i don\'t no ) ? do you
know if this can work w a normal computer w macintosh emulator ? I\'m very
interested in the software of sdx do you have any idea where can I found a legal
copy ?thank you from brazil

comment: Hi Gabriel,
you will not be able to mount the SDX OS disk on any other device but the SDX itself. First of all it is compiled to run on the Motorla 68k processor, second the SDX has it\'s own floppy format/file system. You might read the content of the floppy block wise using Unix\' dd tool but you will not have the chance to make it runiing within any emulator

lovely site. I have just recently become a Simmons devotee. I am absolutely
infatuated with the sounds that these machines produce. Your site is like a holy
grail for Simmons, thank you for then time and energy you have put into it. I
have recently acquired an SDS9 and I am looking for any EPROMS I can find.
Anyone who has any for sale, please contact me at the above email. Also looking
for a functioning SDS8.

Hi Wolfgang,
its Larry from Australia . love your wed site and the info about Simmons, thanks
for keeping the dream alive , just wondering , i have an old electric drum set,
it looks very similar to the early Simmons, but has 5 sides , i think it was
made before the Simmons, its name brand is maxim creative sound
Wolfgang, i would dearly appreciate any info you have or any wed sites about
the drum set.
THANKS
kind regards from Larry.

comment: Hi Larry,
I don\'t know much about the Maxim. The MDS-1000 was an SDSV clone made in Japan, likely released in 1983/84. The pads featured the same riot shield surface like the SDSV pads, the frame could carry up to 7 modules just like the SDSV brain. Here is a link with some infos: http://m.matrixsynth.com/2007/10/maxim-mds-1000.html
